Family and Consumer Science courses

What is FACS?  "Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) is the comprehensive body of skills, research, and knowledge that helps people make informed decisions about their well being, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life. The field represents many areas, including human development, personal and family finance, housing and interior design, food science, nutrition, and wellness, textiles and apparel, and consumer issues." -American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences

IMPORTANCE OF FACS CLASSES

By taking FACS courses, students learn knowledge and skills that prepare them for adult living and to be in the workforce.  FACS courses help individuals and families to manage the challenges of everyday living.  They help the students achieve marketable skills to be successful in life situations, employment and career development.  In our society, the majority of families are two-career, so it's important for all members to have life skills and career knowledge to address problems in family, community and work environments.
